Fishing Report 7/8/14

 

 

 

 

  • Lake Almanor: Lake surface water temps are mid 70's. Hex Hatch has slowed as it does after the fourth but every third night surface action is good. Trout are moving to cold water and taking mayflies and caddis flies during the day. Smallmouth are on the bite and fishing well.

 Hex Hatching at near both Almanor and Butt Valley dams.

  • Butt Valley Res. Hex Hatch is slow; try by the Dam. Small mouth biting well. Power house is open and big fish are present.  

  

  • Eagle Lake:  Fish have moved deep.
  • Susan River: Open and very low levels, small hatch in the evenings but nymphing has been the most productive.   
  • North Fork of the Feather: Low with some golden stone hatching in the evenings.
  • Warner Creek: Small hatch in the evenings.
  • Deer Creek: Open and low; try dark nymphs.  
  • Mill Creek: Open and a bit off color but fishing well.  
  • Hamilton Branch: Fish are moving into the lower section by lake earlier than usual; dry fly action in upper section.
  • Yellow Creek: Open with green drakes hatching.   
  • Goodrich Creek: Open and low.   
  • Upper Lakes: Crater, Echo and Silver fishing well. 
  • Antelope Lake: Some fish being caught up to 20" 
  • Walker and Round Valley: Starting to pick for bass.
