Fishing Report 9/12/14

 

 

 

 

  • Lake Almanor: Lake surface water temps are low 70's and high 60's. Trout are in cold water but starting to scatter; they are taking mayflies and caddis flies during the day and starting to take smelt. Smallmouth are on the bite and fishing well during the afternoons.
  • Butt Valley Res.  Small mouth biting well in the main lake. Power house is running and big fish are present; Nymphs, wooly buggers and pondsmelt are working.
  • Eagle Lake:  Fish are in 20 feet of water and should be moving swallower.
  • Susan River: Very low levels.   
  • North Fork of the Feather: Low with some hatch in the evenings.
  • Warner Creek: Small hatch in the evenings also low.
  • Deer Creek: low; try dark nymphs.  
  • Mill Creek: Fishing well in the evenings.  
  • Hamilton Branch: Fish are in the lower section, most fish in years. Dry fly action in upper section.
  • Yellow Creek: Summertime coditions.   
  • Goodrich Creek: Very low.   
  • Upper Lakes: Crate and Silver fishing well. 
  • Antelope Lake: Lake level is good and starting to fish well. 
  • Walker and Round Valley: Low but bass are biting.
